Born in the mountain village of Olivadi, Italy, Anthony Delapa came to America, alone on a steamship when he was eleven years old. He brought with him great pride in his Italian heritage, a love for its food, and an unparalleled work ethic. From his humble beginnings he built a successful real estate development company with his wife, Joanne. His fond memories of his hometown and appreciation of Italian cuisine inspired the idea to someday open a restaurant.

In 2008, when that opportunity arose, he didn’t hesitate. Anthony constructed Olivadi Restaurant & Bar with love which can readily be seen in its architectural details and original artwork by his son, John Delapa. For over 12 years, Olivadi has been an independent, family-run restaurant dedicated to serving high-quality dishes, and has become a popular, welcoming gathering place in the greater Norwood area.

In 2020, the Delapa family suffered Anthony’s unexpected passing, and like so many small businesses at the time, the restaurant also suffered financial hardship due to the pandemic. Its doors were temporarily closed until the Delapa family decided to reopen late spring 2022, remaining steadfast to Anthony’s love of this restaurant and of serving his community food and drink inspired by his beloved Southern Italy. The Delapa family is proud to carry on Anthony’s vision and to remain an enthusiastic, vibrant gathering place for friends and family.
